The 60 ton Coronado is designed to be lifted with two truck cranes. At the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne the limited workspace required us to work with only one crane.
To lift and lower the nose of the aircraft onto the three supports accurate to the nearest millimeter, a special 15 m long crossbeam with hydraulic hoisting winch and 12-fold reeving was used.
The test lift on Monday afternoon 12 March 2007 went splendidly. We were set to go forward with this spectacular move on Tuesday, 13 March 2007 at 8:30 a.m.
