Emmi Schweiz AG is expanding its production capacity at its Dagmersellen site with the construction of a new milk powder plant. The installation, comprising a total of five truckloads, was delivered in advance to our heavy-load warehouse to ensure a delay-free and precise just-in-time delivery.
Our work on site consisted of various stages spread over several days. Our specialists worked in teams and transported smaller plant components weighing up to 4 tonnes to the various floors using the goods lift.
At 12 tonnes, the roller was the heaviest machine component. We transported it directly from our heavy goods warehouse to the Emmi site, where it was lifted over the railing onto the roof of the tall production building using a mobile crane. Through the roof hatch, we placed the roller, still suspended from the crane, with millimetre precision onto the prepared foundation on the top floor. This lift required the highest level of accuracy and seamless communication between the teams, as there was no direct line of sight from the crane cab to the roof, the access opening or the final positioning point.
Although the roller was the heaviest component of the installation, it was not the most complex element of this demanding industrial assembly project — but more on that in a forthcoming “On the Road” article.
