The traditional Elmer Citro has nearly 100 years of history and has been produced in the village center of Elm since its inception. As part of the modernization of this production facility located in the Glarnerland, we replaced several machines as part of this industrial project.
While we moved smaller machine units in and out at ground level, transporting the larger machines required special expertise in factory relocations. The challenge was not only meeting the familiar requirements of the food industry but also handling the difficult-to-access facade opening, which was not at ground level and bordered directly on a steep, overgrown slope.
To move the machines through the facade opening, we built a heavy-duty platform leading from inside to outside. Inside the building, we used our hydraulic lifting system to lift the multi-ton machines to the platform.
Outside, we took over the machines with our truck-mounted crane and lifted them—partially using a tandem lift together with a mobile crane—carefully along the steep slope. This allowed us to safely move the over 7-meter-long machine components out of the building and bring in the new machines in the same way.
Equipment used:
- Truck-mounted crane (10×4 with 140 mt capacity)
- Hydraulic lifting system
- Mobile platform
- Forklift
