In Aarberg, a new combined heat and power plant is under construction next to the sugar refinery. The heart of this power plant is the turbine-generator unit, which generates electricity from the steam of the plant.
On behalf of MAN Energy Solutions, BAUBERGER first unloaded the 88-ton base frame by means of a 350-metric-ton mobile crane, then placed it in the building on sliding tracks and lowered it onto the damping elements by means of a lifting system. Subsequently, the 30-ton generator was installed using a similar procedure and placed on the base frame with to-the-millimetre precision.
Almost 80 tons of auxiliary material and special tools were used for this project, which is the same as around four full truck loads.
When ready for operation, the plant will burn old wood and generates steam. The generated steam will be used during sugar production for processing and producing electricity; outside the sugar campaigns steam is used for internal means and the production of electricity.
